Modern Pharmacology

Modern pharmacological research on Root of Japanese Premna remains insufficient. The following findings are mainly derived from preliminary studies on the root extract of Premna microphylla and related species of the same genus, and are provided for reference: Immune-enhancing effect: The root extract of Premna microphylla enhances the body's non-specific immune function, with one experimental group showing the most significant effect. This study provides a scientific experimental basis for the rational development and utilization of Premna microphylla as a wild medicinal resource. Anti-inflammatory effect: The flavonoid constituents in Root of Japanese Premna possess anti-inflammatory effects. They can inhibit the production and release of inflammatory factors, thereby reducing inflammatory responses. Analgesic effect: The alkaloid constituents in Root of Japanese Premna can block nerve conduction and relieve pain, making it suitable for pain symptoms caused by various reasons. Antibacterial effect: The volatile oils and flavonoid constituents in Root of Japanese Premna possess broad-spectrum antibacterial effects. They can inhibit the growth and reproduction of various bacteria and help prevent and treat infectious diseases. Note: The above pharmacological findings are largely derived from preliminary studies on the root extract of Premna microphylla and related species of the same genus. Dedicated systematic pharmacological research on Root of Japanese Premna is still ongoing. Traditional actions and indications should remain the primary basis for use.
