Peperomia heyneana Miq.
Aliases：Sàn Xuè Dān (literally "Blood‑Dispersing Elixir" — referring to its hemostatic effect), Gǒu Gǔ Tou (literally "Dog Bone" — possibly referring to its stem shape), and Hǎi Ní Dòu Bàn Lǜ (literally "Heyne's Peperomia" — a transliteration of its species name heyneana, combined with its Chinese common name "豆瓣绿").
Méng Zì Cǎo Hú Jiāo (Mengzi Peperomia) is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. It is the dried whole herb of Peperomia heyneana Miq., a plant belonging to the family Piperaceae. It grows under dense forests, beside ditches, or on moist rocks at altitudes of 800–2,000 meters.
Efficacy & Actions
Disperses blood stasis and stops bleeding.
Indications
Hematemesis (vomiting blood) and epistaxis (nosebleeds). In addition, it is also used for gastric bleeding.
Usage & Dosage
For oral administration: decoct in water, 3–10 g.
