Aliases：Sān Yuè Huā (literally "March Flower" — named for its early spring blooming period) and Bào Chūn Huā (literally "Spring‑Announcing Flower" — named for being one of the first flowers to bloom in spring, heralding the season).
Huá Zǐ Bào Chūn Huā (Huazi Primrose) is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. It is the root or whole herb of Primula sinopurpurea Balf.f. ex Hutch., a plant belonging to the family Primulaceae. It grows in alpine grasslands, meadows, scree slopes, and rhododendron thickets at altitudes of 3,000–4,400 meters.

Disperses blood stasis, stops bleeding, and treats infantile malnutrition (gan accumulation).
Indications
Gynecological bleeding: Persistent lochia after delivery and metrorrhagia (functional uterine bleeding). Pediatric diseases: Infantile malnutrition (pediatric malnutrition and indigestion).
Usage & Dosage
For oral administration: decoct in water, 9–12 g. Processing: Harvest in summer and autumn, wash, and either dry in the sun or use fresh.
Selected Formulas
For postpartum persistent bleeding and metrorrhagia (empirical formula) Take 15g of the whole plant of Baochunhua (Primula malacoides), decoct in water, add 10 peppercorns and an appropriate amount of brown sugar, and take orally. For infantile malnutrition (gan) and tuberculosis (empirical formula) Take 3g each of the dried root of Baochunhua, Zhuye Fangfeng (a local herb), Xianmao (Curculigo orchioides), Huanghua Diding (a local herb), and Yunxiangcao (Cymbopogon distans). Decoct in water and drink. For post-illness debility (empirical formula) Take 9-15g of the dried root of Baochunhua, stew with meat, and consume.
