Lespedeza formosa（Vog.）Koehne
Aliases：Mǎ Sào Zhǒu (literally "Horse Broom") and Mǎ Fú Zhǒu (literally "Horse Duster"). (These are both alternative names for Měi Lì Hú Zhī Zǐ Huā, i.e., the flower of Lespedeza formosa / Beautiful Lespedeza Flower.)
Měi Lì Hú Zhī Zǐ Huā (Beautiful Lespedeza Flower) is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. It is the flower of Lespedeza formosa (Vog.) Koehne, a plant belonging to the family Fabaceae. It grows under forests on slopes or in thickets. It was first recorded in Fujian Zhongcaoyao (Fujian Chinese Herbal Medicine).

Clears heat and cools blood.
Indications
Lung‑heat with hemoptysis (coughing up blood), and hematochezia (blood in the stool).
Usage & Dosage
For oral administration: decoct in water, 30–60 g of fresh flowers (1–2 liang in the traditional Chinese system, where 1 liang ≈ 37.5 g).
