Yā Shé Yú Biē (Duck‑tongue Fish‑shell Fern) is a traditional Chinese medicinal material. It is the dried whole herb of Saxiglossum angustissimum (Gies.) Ching, a plant belonging to the genus Saxiglossum of the family Polypodiaceae. It grows on mountain rocks at altitudes of 400–1,000 meters. It is recorded in Zhonghua Bencao (Chinese Materia Medica).

Indications
Lung-heat cough, sore throat, red and photophobic eyes (red, swollen, and light-sensitive), infantile convulsions, difficult urination, and leukorrhea.

Usage & Dosage
For oral administration: decoct in water, 15–30 g. For topical application: appropriate amount of fresh herb, mashed and applied to the affected area (Zhonghua Bencao — Chinese Materia Medica).
Selected Formulas
For infantile convulsion (Tianmu Mountain Medicinal Plant Records) Take 30g of Yashiyubie (a local herb), 15-18g of Huanghuacao root (Solidago decurrens, family Asteraceae), 12-15g each of Banbianlian (Lobelia chinensis) root and Hanniu root (Rubus lambertianus, family Rosaceae), and 1 piece of gold ornament. Decoct in water and drink.
