Rén Shēn Guǒ (Ginseng Fruit) is a Chinese medicinal herb. It is the whole plant with roots of Herminium monorchis (L.) R. Br., a plant of the Orchidaceae family. Additionally, the dried ripe fruit of Panax ginseng C.A. Mey. (Araliaceae) is also referred to by the same name.
Efficacy & Actions
Strengthens the heart and tonifies the kidney, promotes fluid production and quenches thirst, tonifies the spleen and strengthens the stomach, regulates menstruation and invigorates blood circulation. This herb is sweet and warm in nature, capable of tonifying the spleen and stomach, and nourishing the heart and kidneys. It is suitable for various conditions caused by deficiency of both qi and yin.
Indications
Used for neurasthenia, insomnia, dizziness, restlessness with thirst, poor appetite, and menstrual irregularities. Some literature also records its use for the treatment of venomous snake bites.

Usage & Dosage
Oral Administration: Decoction, the standard dosage is 9–12g; or steeped in yellow wine for consumption.
Contraindications
As it is warm in nature, avoid combining with cold-nature medications or foods, as they may interact and reduce the efficacy. Contraindicated for individuals allergic to Ginseng Fruit.

For Neurasthenia, Dizziness, and Headache (from Shaanxi Chinese Herbal Medicine) Take 6g each of Tài Bái Huā (Taibai Flower), Xiǎo Yūn Jī Tóu (Small Dizziness Chicken Head), Jīn Máo Qī (Golden Hair Seven), Rén Tóu Qī (Human Head Seven, an alias for Herminium monorchis), and Fèng Wěi Qī (Phoenix Tail Seven). Decoct in water and take orally. For Venomous Snake Bite (from Qinling Bashan Natural Medicine Records) Take the whole plant of Jiǎo Pán Lán (Herminium, i.e., Herminium monorchis) and combine with Shé Jiàn Tuì (Snake Retreat Herb). Mash them together and apply externally to the affected area.
Daily Consumption
Decoction for Oral Use: Take 9–12g of Ginseng Fruit, add water, decoct, and drink the liquid. Wine Infusion: Take an appropriate amount of Ginseng Fruit, steep it in yellow wine, and drink in moderation. Daily Consumption (as a Fruit): Ginseng Fruit is crisp, tender, and juicy. It can be eaten fresh directly, or used to make fruit salads, fruit yogurt, or stir-fried dishes.
